“I want to do this for my son, who treasures the land as much as I do [...] Every time I sit here, I am comforted by the thought of seeing the three of us at nine or ten, this timeless place...” -Alan, Invisible Orphans
Matthew and his family are deeply connected to their land in Indiana, as it is where they all grew up. After Matthew’s death, Vivi gained control of the land, but Alan, Matthew’s cousin, wanted to buy the land to uphold the memories he had with Matthew and his other family members who passed away. Home is a powerful place, and it can be incredibly grounding to exist in a familiar space while working through grief and trauma.
